There’s an Angel in My Painting!

It so happens that I was going through some of my photographs and saw an Angel in my painting. Wow. She is right there in the middle and I hadn’t noticed her prior to this.

My husband has told me he has seen Jesus in four or five of my paintings. These Heavenly Beings are well hidden, but when you relax and look with your inner eye, there they are.

The colors in this piece of art always make me feel good. The balance and intertwining of the hues are pleasing. Not all of my work brings this inner satisfaction. I simply find it rather joyful.

There is a fence which exists in my mind. I worked with watercolors and layered the paint many times in order to obtain this effect. What is uncanny is that my next door neighbor has since erected a fence almost just like this one. Talk about visualization!

Art is an interpretation. Be it music, sculpture, painting, baking, quilting, writing and so many of the thousands of examples that surround us everyday.

Everyone is artistic in one way or another, although there are many who do not see themselves as an artist at all. They assume, incorrectly, if they go about their normal day, doing their job in the same mundane way as before, that they are just another person on this planet.

Since April of this year, I have been privileged to meet, view and interact with hundreds of my artistic counterparts. We share a love of expressions, words, photographs, memories, and celebrate a comradeship filled with a poignant joy.

What a thrill when someone sees what we have created and reacts to our post for that day. We touch one another deeply, but without physical connection. This whole interaction, in and of itself, is art.

This goes to prove that we are spiritual beings. Whenever we connect by airwaves and cyberspace we are sharing that of ourselves, which cannot be seen. We are in a place, whereby we can become one.

We have a strong voice when we join together, to ask the world around us to change. To become peaceful. To STOP THE ABUSE. By our combined art, perhaps we will reach those who will listen and change their ways. To treat others the way they would be treated.

Another View “Passion Flower”

This is my favorite oil painting of mine. It is another view that I took with my camera. The colors are entwined in a way to bring me a serene thrill of joy.

“Flowers” Watercolor On Paper

Flowers

This was inspired by artist Donna Dewberry, and after practicing her “One Stroke Painting” I painted this in perhaps ten to fifteen minutes. Naturally, I added my own touches to make it mine.

Reproducing flowers is not an easy task for most people. I needed some help and she came through on her video. This was an exercise practice but it turned out pretty well.

You should try it too.

The Fence

When I photographed this yesterday, I had turned off the light after placing the painting on white paper towels. I changed the camera’s direction to a side-view and stood much closer.

It is almost as if I am walking on a sidewalk beside a slight hill boarding the fence with the grass and lovely flowers. Perhaps if I reach out my hand I will be able to traipse my fingers gently over the blades of taller bits of grass.

That’s the sort of thing I used to do all the time. As I grew older I tried to refrain from reaching out so often. Oh, I allowed myself to touch and feel but not as often. Yet as I think about it I notice that since I am usually in the car when I see things like this that I touch them with my mind.

Have you ever done this or practiced this exercise? Well first you would need a reference point, so go touch, smell, savor, study an object until you are completely familiar with it. I also do this with food.

Next look at the object but this time without coming into contact with it. Pretend you are touching it. Caress it. Transmit the sensory feelings from your brain down to your fingers and back. See … that wasn’t difficult.

Now do the same thing with this art work. Pretend you are on the sidewalk and mentally reach your hand to take in the physical aspects too. From now on you can take a new view on what you are looking at.
